Information Strategies has developed the SharePoint Classification Tool (SCT) – an integrated site and content classification solution for SharePoint.
Many organizations have content that is classified on one or two levels. An intelligence agency, for example, uses classification levels as a security mechanism that designates who is permitted to view various documents.
SCT is a custom solution that works with both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Services 2007 to provide the following enhancements to SharePoint:
• Site Classification – site owners can classify their sites and decide whether to restrict documents accordingly; classification settings are clearly displayed on a custom banner webpart
• Document Classification – users can specify the classification levels of documents without modifying the content or text of the document
• Classification Definition – administrators can define the classifications and sub-classifications used for marking sites and documents that are specific to their organization
