1. What is the difference between Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and Windows SharePoint Services (WSS)?

2. What do you get with the SharePoint Enterprise Client Access License (CAL)?

3. How do I connect external users to a SharePoint site?
There are two basic options for licensing Windows SharePoint Services:

Client Access License (CAL). If you choose this model, you must purchase a CAL for each authenticated external user accessing the Windows SharePoint Services server. |

External Connector License. An External Connector License allows an unlimited number of authenticated external users to access a server. |
4. Why do my users have to enter their username and password so many times with SharePoint?
To avoid this, you must enter the domain into the Trusted Sites section of the Tools - Internet Options- Security menu of Internet Explorer.
5. How do I turn on version control in a SharePoint document library?
In the document library, select Settings, Document Library Settings, Versioning Settings, and then select "Create major versions" or "Create major and minor versions".

6. How many servers do I need for SharePoint?
At a minimum, you need at least one web server and one database server. SQL Server requires a dedicated server rather than using the SharePoint web server to run SQL Server. You may also need to use additional servers if you have a large number of users or a large amount of content to index and search. You can add more servers where needed to create any topology configuration to meet your specific needs and adapt them as your needs change.
7. How is SharePoint integrated with Microsoft Office?
SharePoint offers several integration points with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). While most of these features are available in both Office 2003 and Office 2007, some features are only available in Office 2007. And, some features that are available in both have been improved in Office 2007.
8. Do I need Office 2007 to use SharePoint 2007?
Most of the SharePoint integration with Office works with Office 2003 and does not require Office 2007. 9. How can I upgrade from SharePoint 2003 to SharePoint 2007?
The most common approach to upgrading from SharePoint 2003 to SharePoint 2007 is the "Gradual upgrade" option which provides a controlled and methodical approach to bringing over customizations and content from the current site with the least risk.
10. What training do I need for SharePoint?
Separate training is required for each of the four roles required for SharePoint:
- Administrators
- Content Owners
- Developers (if applicable)
